Homeless Man Allegedly Stabs Long Beach Resident During Burglary

Officers arrested a homeless man for reportedly stabbing a Long Beach resident during a burglary on Monday morning.

The Long Beach Police Department stated the burglary occurred around 5:10 a.m. on South 4th Place, adjacent to Alamitos Beach. Officers discovered the victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body.

Police believe the victim fought with the offender during the break-in before being stabbed. The suspect vanished before police arrived, but they found him nearby.

Anthony Bartolo Olivas, 46, refused to surrender to police until he was shot with 40mm less-lethal ammunition. After police detained Olivas, paramedics transported him to the hospital.

He was arrested for burglary and assault with a deadly weapon. Olivas will be jailed for $50,000 bail.
