BROWNWOOD, Texas — A Brownwood man has been condemned to life in jail for sexual assault on a child and bigamy.
Jason Anthony Padilla was sentenced to life in prison for sexual assault of a child – bigamy, indecency with a child via contact, and possession of a controlled substance after being convicted during a trial in Brown County this week.
According to court filings, Padilla has been accused of sexually abusing a juvenile since 2020. Padilla allegedly abused the boy for more than two years and forced him to consume booze and medications.
The child raised an uproar in Fall 2022, and according to court filings, officers discovered evidence of sexual assault and domestic violence, leading to Padilla’s arrest.
“We are grateful to have had the opportunity to advocate for a woman who has survived the unimaginable and dares to come forward and confront her abuser,” Assistant District Attorney Cara Landers says.
Padilla received the maximum punishment permitted by law for his offenses.
